Michael and Hilda Mangos went to a Miracle Impact Conference at Morphett Vale Baptist Church in Adelaide, Australia, that was led by a Nigerian-born pastor called Charles Ndifon. ( www.christlove.tv ) They were both so impacted by the realization that the Miracle Worker (Jesus) lived inside of them that they decided to focus on this aspect of the Great Commission that appeared to be missing from many churches and yet so prominent in the ministry of Jesus. They began praying for the sick wherever they could and soon found that God was showing Himself to be with them evidenced by people getting healed and others getting eternal salvation.
A few years later Michael found out about a Healing Rooms operating in Adelaide and did the team training there. Soon afterwards Hilda applied for a job as Haematogist in Dunedin hospital and was accepted. Michael went to an Australian Healing Rooms conference in Sydney and talked to Ross Wakeley from Healing Rooms Australia about his desire to start a Healing Rooms in Dunedin. Ross gave him the support and encouragement he needed to get started. About the same time God had spoken to Michael through the scriptures that gave him the assurance that this was a venture that He was leading him into. The scripture verses were
Genesis 2: 8 And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there He put the man whom He had formed.
Genesis 2:15 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
Michael was very excited as he realized that Dunedin literally means the town of Eden and that it was situated east of Adelaide.
Upon arrival in Dunedin in August 2006 Michael’s first efforts to get a team together were unsuccessful. However he decided to take the plunge and invited Franklyn and Deanne Eliott, directors of Healing Rooms Australia, to come and do the initial team training. This took place in June 2007 and God brought together about 18 people. Several of these applied to join the team and so Dunedin Healing Rooms started in Michael and Hilda’s home in September that year. About 1 year later it was decided to shift the ministry to Musselburgh Rise where it continued until April 2011. Healing Rooms now operates in South Dunedin in a building shared with Risen Life Ministries.
